Dental Implant pain-titanium screw

by packergal, Jul 02, 2007 11:58PM
I had an extraction of a fractured molar a few months ago, and then had a titanium screw implant about a week and a half ago, in prep for a permanent implant. (molar)  the first couple days after the screw implant were o.k.,

I've experienced increased aching since, and now I am in excruciating pain. My jaw, and teeth on the side of the implant are killing me. I woke up at 3am in tears.

can't see my oral surgeon until Thursday. I am taking vicodin but I am still in extreme pain. Has this happened to anyone else? I have no swelling. Please help. Thanks!!

The same exact thing happened to me.  I had the implant put in on 7/12, and was fine the first day after, but then started having aching at the site of the implant, and now wake up in the middle of the night with terrible pain and have to take lots of ibuprofen.  My oral surgeon is not sure what is going on and is having me take antibiotics and ibuprofen.  It doesn't seem like it should be an infection b/c I have been taking the antibiotics since 7/12.  I understand that implants occasionally "fail" but the oral surgeon says that this generally happens after a longer time and is not typically this painful.  He suspected that maybe the prosthesis I have over the implant site was pressing on the area, causing pain, but the prosthesis is out and I still have pain.  Please let me know what your diagnosis is because we have the same symptoms!

Hi i was thinking of getting mplant too but it seem scary.
I have a question how much did  they charge you?? My dentist said 5,000 and it is a lot of money.  I am kindda scared... how long was the procedure after the teeth was extracted?
