Yes its hypothyroidism, I found out about 8 yrs ago. Unlike you I have never been the same since. I first started out at 50 mcgs of synthroid and have progressively gone up to 300mcgs. I've just never gotten back to my old self physicall. Not really with weight but just feeling good. One of my excuses for abusing pain pills. I've been to a couple of specialists but they are so hard to deal with, they speak barely any english and i cant talk to them. I'm still working on it,
Its nice to hear your taking care of yourself, & I had to write back to ask if this is hypothyroidism? As In the past I had problems with my thyroid, & never knew their was a problem till a simple blood test made the determination, & let me tell you it was the day that I started living again, as 5 years ago I went from 190 {ugh}, to what I am today 115, & being that Im small, only 5'3 at 190 I looked huge! I always associated my weight gain with taking the oxycodone, but it wasnt, so I thank god that I went to see my doctor & she decided to check my thyroid levels, as it has bettered my life, as Im sure it will yours to. I havent even gained one pound in 5 years, Its such a great feeling to be fit again, now if I can only get off the methadone my life will be complete, but Im almost their, only two months left, yipi! Take Care, Penelope
Im still kicking, thanks for asking. I just took my twins to school because im not working yet, it's nice to spend time with my kids, i have 4, when i was working i was gone early and home late all the time and high the rest of the time. I went by the cemetary on the way home to visit my daugther who was a full term stillborn 14 yrs ago today. The area she is in is a section for babies and someone brought out about 35 stuff animals and lay them at each headstone, i was really touched by that. I got that sick feeling in my stomach like i got when we lost her and would be easy to trigger me to use as it did in the past but i think im past that now in my recovery.
Sounds like your getting your life back in order and taking care of yourself, keep it up.
Hey man how you doin. Havent seen ya in a few days. Sounds like your still on track. Good to see ya.
Glad to hear your ticker is ok. Dont give up on the vitamins and b12, it took about 3-4 weeks before i felt better from them. It's good your doing cardio as well, those 12 ounce curls will really get your heart going..lol. Your right, there never is a good time to quit, so you just have to made up your mind and just get thru the $hit before it will shine.
Every day is a better day.
virgo: way to go,hope it's getting easier for you. Watch out for the cravings. Some say they're tough and some it does'nt bother them, It was tough for me. You are so on your way to feeling like a new person. Keep up the good work. John
Trouble- I've heard there are natural things you can take. I don't know any of them. When i first found out there was a problem i could'nt walk to my car after work and could'nt brush my teeth, i would get to tired,my back hurt,my voice was breaking up, my hair was real brittle,i swelled up like a ballon. Still havent gotten back to my normal weight, might never be able to do that. Be careful,if your having symptoms you need to get your blood work done. Good luck, hope you can soon.-John
Yes she did, I usually go once a month for the blood work. I told her about the hydro and she said it should'nt affect the thyroid just my liver. She is the same doctor who helped me taper last year so she was pretty mad at me but took care of me as well. She gave me an EKG today to make sure the ol ticker is ok. She really is great, i think i have a crush on her. I always look foward to seeing her. I've had the thryroid problem for about 8 years now. When i first started taking the pills I liked them because of the energy wich I was missing because of the thryoid. That was a big mistake.
boy i hear ya on the age thing!! Im 37 now and feel like 97 most days, LOL. I also think my thyroid is low too but now will probably never find out since I lost insurance. Cant afford to go to Dr AND pay for labworks etc! I did this online diagnostic thingy, and I had like every single symptom of hypothyroid! I remember a few years ago, a dr. did test me for that and at taht time i was borderline low and he didnt want to put me on meds then for it. Never followed through with that and now will never know, lol. anyhow glad you went to the doc. I hope your headaches and vision get better soon!
Day 9! Way to go! That is so awesome. I am glad the dr. is getting the other prob's under control. You'll be right as rain in no time. 5years is a long time and you should be proud of yourself. I am proud of you and what you have accomplished so far. It lets me know that I can do it too. Day 4 today. Woo hoo!
Keep up the good work.
Hey, let's not talk about the age thing. :)
I take a natural thyroid (whatever that is) that I get from an ND. I am glad you are getting it checked out. It is also good to follow up more than once. Did they take a blood test for thyroid levels? The high blood pressure could still be w/ds. Or at least a contributing factor.
can you say lipposuction WOOHOO
Congrats...you are doing great...Glad you told doc everything....And you never know you may see those abs again...Don't ever say never..LOL
r2r
I've been taking about 2-4 good multivitamins a day and when really dragging i will take a b12. I'm drinking lots of water and i force myself to do the cardio. It seems to be working
Its good to hear that. I am one day behind you and have been tracking your improvements so as to know what to expect. Just wish I had some freakin energy.....blahhhh is how I'm feelin
Energy level is pretty good. Shortness of breath at times. I actually get out of my chair for more than a cigarette now. I have been doing some cardio at home again. Like the good ol days.
Glad to hear your doing awesome w/ the opiates atleast.... How is your energy level?
No kidding. When I turned 35 I was in great shape but from 35-40 woh,man what a difference. LOL i'll never see those six pack abs again.
Things are looking up..too bad your body is not participating.....LOL LOL
I know the feeling. Hang in there...please.
Best of luck with that John. Sounds like you are on the right track.
