PPD and thyroid levels

by roonesj, Jan 15, 2008 06:03PM
Help...I have PPD and I am on Zoloft.  They keep increasing it from 25 mg to 50 mg. but I am not improving.  I am tired all the time even with lots of sleep, I can't concentrate, I am lethargic and feel like I am living in a blurr as well as being depressed.  I asked my OB to test my thyroid, she tested my T4 Free level which was1.1 and my TSH 3rd generation level which was 1.77 they said this was all normal.  My mom and grandma both have history of of hypothyroid.  I also went through help syndrome during pregnancy which made them have to do emergency c section 6 weeks early.   I was in ICU for 4 days on magnessium. My son is now 4 months.  Any thoughts as to why I am not getting better .

Have they tested your adrenals?. Adrenal fatigue has the same symptoms as low thyroid.  Also, sometimes it takes several tries at different depression medications to find the right one.  I would have your blood tested again and include DHEA, Vit D, cortisol and B12 and metabolic panel. You could be deficient in these things, also
