Fibroglandular Tissue with pain

by Junipermelb, Jul 05, 2007 05:59AM
Hi

I was wondering if someone could help me. I have been to see a doctor twice in the last 8 months because of suspicious pain and thickening. On both occasions, I had a breast ultrasound. The first time, nothing came up. On this second occasion, they found a focal area of fibroglandular tissue in the axillary tail region of my right breast - towards the upper part of armpit. Unfortunately, I had my period that time and the doctor concluded that it was nothing. I am however, now experiencing pain and it the area has thickened more and there is a definite shape now. I am definitely not having my period and not even close to that time of month - last day of my last period was 15 days ago. I don't know if I should be worried. If I should get a second opinion. Has anyone had this experience before or have any information?

I'm having the same problem.  Mine started about 6 months ago.  Lots of pain and this lump that changes in size but never goes away.  Doctor told me not to worry but sent me for an ultrasound.  Technician found nothing, said it must be healthy glandular tissue.  I am a little confused how something that feels larger than a grape wouldn't show up on ultrasound.  I went back to my doctor 2 months later and she sent me to see a breast surgeon, he felt the lump and said it was nothing to worry about but didn't order any further testing.  I am 32 and a mother of 2 children ages 2 and 4.  I try not to worry but the lump is still there, it does however feel larger and more painful around 10 - 12 days before my period.  My husband thinks that I should just have it removed, he thinks that all of this anxiety and stress can't be healthy.

im 19 ive been having this problem for years...and now i have more than 8 lumps in each breast and they are very painful...i might get one week of the month that they dont hurt but the doctors really havent done anything about it because "I'm too young...so they assume its nothing...". Hopefully they're right...but as of right now, I plan to go to another doctor soon...
