behets disease - breast implants?

by curious1216, Jan 19, 2008 01:00PM
Hi, my name is Amanda and i am 20 years old, i gave birth to a healthy baby in dec. of 2005. Shortly after that i was hospitalized with swollen ankles, many ulsers in my mouth, and extreme pain in my legs and ankles to the point i couldnt walk. The doctors gave me a possible diagnosis of behcets disese, which i believe is a auto immune issue. They put me on several medications  which included steriods. They werent 100% sure if this diagnosis was correct, they said it could possibly be a post partum issue. Well i have been off of all my medications for 8 months and have had no syptoms. I am considering breast implants, i have spoke to my surgeon and he said it was wise to consult a doctor. I am in the process of switching rheumatologist. I also was reading about a chemical in some people called HLA-B27 that makes them very sick if they get breast implants. Could you tell me what my risks and complications would be if i were to go through with this procedure? thank you so much

I have no experience doing a breast augmentation on anyone with with your history and most plastic surgeons will also not be versed in this problem.  I doubt if this will be a problem, but your rheumatologist would be the one to answer your questions.
