MRI Results

by confused1229, Jan 19, 2008 02:18PM
We recently took our 78 year old aunt for an MRI.  The MRI was ordered because she had been diagnosed several years ago with Multi Farc Dementia and was starting to have hallucinations.  The doctor wanted to see if there had been a change since the baseline MRI was taken in the Fall of 2006.  We just received the results and I am not sure exactly what they mean.  They read....Significantly limited exam secondary to patient motion artificat.  There is advanced volume loss and chronic white matter disease with evidence of an ol lacunar infarction in the right basal ganglia.  There is, however, no definite evidence of an acute intracranial abnormal given the limitiation of the study......

What is this telling me.....she has had a stroke....or more than one stroke....?  Here memory loss has declined significantly over the past 7 months.  We are pushing for assisted living.  Are we moving the right direction?

Thank you
