by megan179, Jan 20, 2008 12:53PM
hi i am 5"7 and 114 lbs. i am 16 years old. i just quite gymnastics recently which i was involved in for 10 years. is it normal for me to lose weight? after quiting i have lost 8 lbs and continue to drop. am i considered underweight? if i want to lose weight, think that i am fat, and binge eat and then starve myself, is that considered an eating disorder?

I am near in stature.  You might be losing muscle because of your eating habits.  You should be evaluated by a doctor for a diagnosis.  I am underweight, but it fits my bone structure. I'm naturally this weight and have normal eating habits.
You are very young--just eat sensibly and take care of your body.  You are nowhere near fat--even if you gained 10-15lbs.
