twins measuring different

by milliemay, Jan 20, 2008 04:25PM
I had an eight week ultrasound and was told that we had two babies in there.  However, one measured eight weeks and the other six.  Both heartbeats were in normal range. The ultrasound doc. did not seem to optimistic on the smaller one.  My o.b was more optimistic.  They told me we will have to wait for the twelve week ultrasound to confirm twins. That seems like forever. Has anyone had anything similar? I really have'nt found much info one the subject.  Please send any info.  Thank You

One twin can be smaller than the other one.  The smaller one has more health risks; however, a normal birth is possible.  Keep being optimistic--things might be fine.

U/s can be off by around 7 days either way, so maybe the position of one of the babies was not too good so tech did not get correct measurements,  do you know how far along you should be?  I would not painc but I would ask for the u/s to be bought forward by a couple of weeks to ease your mind   Good luck!!!!!!!!  and keep us posted
