a little confused, can you help?

Hi all I have been trying to concieve now for over five years, I finally got put on metformin and clomid to help. I started these four months ago. My first dose of clomid i was forced to use Provera to help induce my period. Afterwards i took the clomid like was supposed to, and my period came on its own 16 days past my positive ovulation. The second round of clomid was done, got a positve ovulation on cd 16, then no period came, i have been testing religously every week since Dec 16th 2007. Every test has been negative. I see my gyno on the 24th of this month. Here is where the confusion comes in.
On Sunday evening, I started to have brown discharge, I only noticed it when i whiped, there isn't a "flow' to it. its mainly when i wipe, I have been wearing pantyliners just incase my period comes. I only have had a few spots on the liner and that takes about three hours of wearing it. I don't have any cramping, which is not normal if this is a start of a period, I always have cramping. I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms. I only had one time of having a pinkish streak when i wiped to. I am just so confused.
Is this normal? What is going on? I never experienced anything like this before. Sometimes the start of my period is brown discharge but its always more of a flow with cramping and by now its already a full flow..
