4 year old screaming

by dnttaylor, Jan 22, 2008 11:03AM
I have 4 yr old twins, a boy and a girl.  Right now we are 1,500 miles from home and in a hotel.  My daughter screams at night.  She will not communicate to me what is wrong.  She even try to sleep. We were up until 4:00am last night.   I feel so helpless.  She is a very normal healthy young girl.  She has her own room at home.  Help!!

She sounds scared and confused.  Are you alone with two children?  Is there a reason why you must be away from home (it doesn't sound as if you are on a vacation).  I think there is more here than we know from your posting and I suspect some of that information is the root of the problem.

My husband job sent us here for two weeks.  They included all of us since it was such a long time.  He is from there, so in the day we are visiting all of our relatives while he is at work.   I am wondering if she just misses her room and all of her toys.  Of course the relatives we don't see often, so they are getting to know their grandparents all over again.  It has been about 1 1/2 years since they have seen each other.  Their cousins have their own toys and are like my twins working on their sharing skills and taking turns.  My sons always adapts to change very well and loves an adventure, but my daughter is more of a follower.   Both of my children are close to my mother and call her several times a day to say they miss her.

Any suggestions you can give me I will try.  Thank you for your help.
