Please tell me how to get an answer from you all. I have posted 2 messages but have not received any reply.
I am 65 and I have burning in my feet and hands and at times even my lips turns very hot.  But also my feet and hands will turn ice cold for about three days and then turn very hot. I have had an Emg and nerve conductivity test and also Mri. and have a lot of blood test, but all was okay. I am pre-diabetic. All this burning occured about 9 mo. ago when my doctor put me on a lot of medicine at one time, (blood pressure, toprol, metformin, zetia) Then I started to have leg cramps and stoped the zetia, then my fingers started to vibrate and I have electrical sensation occur all over my body. I was tarted on Lyrica this helped the vibration and electrical sensations but then I started to burn like acid was poured all over my body! After taking Lyrica about a week the all over burning just happens in my feet, legs, lips, and hands real bad.  Lyrica does not help the buring at all.  I was just given Cymbalta for the burning but I was so nuaseated I had to stop.
PLEASE HELP ME I AM IN TORMENT!  WHY DO I HAVE BURNING AND COLD? COULD SOMETHING BE WRONG WITH MY HYPOTHALAMUS GLAND?

Hi,
I am sorry if this question was posted before and I missed it--it may have been lower in the que and not come up . I am also sorry about what sounds like a terrble time you are having with these sensations during the past months.
Have you seen a neurologist who specializes in neuropathies?  You have been started on some good medications but they do not seem to be helping. You may have something that is called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/complex Regional Pain syndrome, which can happen after a burn injury, muscle injury, infection or other  reasons.  I think a neurologist or Pain specialist should be the next person you see, and soon. A rheumatologist may also be of some help if neither of these two specialists are able to diagnose and treat your condition.

I do not think this is your hypothalamus. Your symptoms sound like something else altogether.
Take care.
