Unsteadiness in morning

by Frank606, Jan 22, 2008 01:35PM
I am 75, male, in good health all my life. I take no medications and have had a physical in the last 6 months. BP and heart rate very good.

Question: The last two mornings I have been very unstable when I try to get out of bed. Yesterday it lasted most of the morning. Today only about 30 minutes. It's not dizziness but just hard to stand up or walk for a few seconds until I can get stabilized.
I have never used alcohol and have stopped smoking more than 30 years ago.
Any suggestions? Thank you.

I would get checked for possible ear problems--going from lying to standing.  And, I would get another physical to rule out other problems.

Oh--and are you drinking enough water?

You can be dizzy if you lie down and stand up if you are dehydrated.

Ask to have hypostatic blood pressure taken.
