Any dangers in conceiving right after a miscarriage?

by brandy_bodiford, Apr 13, 2007 12:00AM
I had a miscarriage on 4/3 and my numbers completely dropped by last weekend. My husband and I would like to conceive as soon a possible. I know that I am nearing ovulationg now and was wondering if I was to conceive before I had my period if everything would be ok. I naturally miscarried and from the sono they didn't see anything left. I would appreciate any comments.

Brandy,
I usually reccomend to my pt's to wait until we have a bhcg of 0. Usually a period is a good clinical predictor that the bhcg is 0. The problem with not waitng til it is 0 is that if you draw a blood level and it comes back positive, Is it a new pregnancy? or Pregnancy tissue which did not pass with the miscarrage? Tough spot to put yourself in.
Hope this helps,

Thank you for your comment. Two days after my miscarriage my level was already at 6 and I know that a neg. result is anything below 5. My HCG level dropped from 46 to 6 in 48 hrs. So would my levels be 0 by now? I know that you can't ovulate until they are. My body is already showing signs of ovulating. So if my numbers are down is there any harm in getting pregnant? Thanks
