TTC after being on BC for 6 years

I have been on birth control for 6 years, and have been TTC for 1 yr and 2 months. My Dr. told me to give it a year, but nothing yet. How much longer should I wait to move on to other ways to help. I only go by my ovulation calender. Is there something else I should do..I need advice....Also will reoccurring UTI's affect the process...

After a year of unprotected intercourse, you should definitely see a fertility specialist to initiate an infertility evaluation. The UTIs will not affect the process. Regarding what else to do, most of that decision will be based on what the infertility MD finds. Common tests will be blood tests to confirm if you are ovulating, blood tests to look at ovarian reserve, a sperm count, and an x-ray test called a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to see the shape of your uterus and if your tubes are open. In the meantime, you should be taking a prenatal vitamin for its folic acid content, and we also recommend a baby aspirin a day (81 mg) to improve implantation likelihood.

I would seek out an RE ASAP.  Most docs say try a year (unless you are older).  I feel like I wasted entirely too much time TTC with my regular OB before moving to an RE.  After going to the RE, it was still 1.5 years before it finally worked.

What testing has your doctor done?

Good luck.

That's the problem I have had no test, just the normal yearly to make sure everything is ok. He told me to give it a year, I do have an appointment coming up in 1 week. I will see then what's going to happen...
