There are two reasons that you can be late for a period, either that your are pregnant, or that your ovaries are not ovulating. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate, so if they are negative you are probably not pregnant, but should have a blood pregnancy test to confirm this.

I would recommend that you get blood tests to see if you have ovulated or not, or are pregnant. The tests are progesterone, beta-HCG, estradiol, FSH, TSH, prolactin. If you are not ovulating regularly, and want to get pregnant, then you might need some medicine to help you to ovulate.

How old are you? With hot flashes and no period it is important to make sure you are not entering menopause, which can be determined with the above blood tests also.

This is something that you should sort out with your ObGyn.

Good luck!
