Microgynon 30

by ktlb, Jan 23, 2008 09:18AM
I have been taking Microgynon for 8 years now but missed a pill recently for the first time.  Although I continued taking the pills as normal the next day, I started bleeding about 2 days later and am still bleeding now (total of 8 days).  Usually my periods last 5 days absolute maximum when I take a week break.  Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hello,

Sometimes irregular bleeding, or breakthrough bleeding can occur when on the pill as a result of missing a pill (or even spontaneously).  I would continue taking the pill as you have been.  If your bleeding does not improve by your next cycle notify your ob/gyn.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
