New Labs

by blksapphire, Jan 23, 2008 09:00PM
I am 4 weeks post RAI therapy.  I still feel like a bag of mush.  Now my endo is talking sleep apnea.  This is why I don't like going to doctors... "just kidding"  but I might not be after this.

My new labs as of 1/20/08

T - 3 Total   141
T - 3 Uptake  31
T - 4 Total   7.4
Free T4 Index  2.3
TSH  0.08
==================================================
Labs prior to RA therapy:  11/27?07

T - 3 Total   185  H
T - 3 Uptake  34
T - 4 Total   10.1
Free T4 Index  3.4
TSH  0.06     L

Can anybody tell me whats next.  Do I just sit a wait for the numbers to change.  I ask the endo dr. today and he basically said "yes" we have to wait....

DUUUUUUUUUUhhhhh! which way did he go George.....I'm having a nut moment

take care my peeps..

You will be included in the rocking back and forth with the tinfoil hats.  I'm making you one right now.

Repeat after me:  stupid doctors, stupid thyroid, stupid doctors, stupid thyroid . . .

Did he adjust your dose? Numbers wont change if he doesnt adjust the dosage. I agree though these endos have obviously never had thyroid trouble or they wouldnt do the way they do. Hang in there
Love Venora.

I don't know what most of those numbers up there mean, but I have a question to throw out there.

Why doesn't your Endo consider putting you on Methimazole for a week or two? Is there some reason that would be bad?

It would drive you toward a TSH you could live with.

Anybody know why it is not recommended?

Believe it or not, I asked about meds and was told to just take the atenolol for the palpitations.  Belive me I say that I don't want anymore meds.  I am taking 8 meds at this time and 2 inhalers.  Why O why would I beg to buy more?????

I am up to 75mg of atenolol on some days.  My allergist today was having a fit since he had taken me off atenolol about 6 mosts ago.

I'm ready for my tinhat, got my rocking chair ready....

alright my peeps lets rock......

But laying all jokes aside, I have been told how great this endo dr is, but I want to take a mallet and hit his toes sometimes.  He looks at me as if he's listening, but I'm not sure.  Can't even remember my name nowadays...

Toes?  A littler higher - get his attention.  :-)

I fired the chief of endocrinology.  Everyone said how knowledgeable and great he was.  He wasn't - he was an idiot with a god-complex.  Did nothing but yell at me.  My endo now (his former partner who can't stand him either) rocks!

4 weeks is not enough time for RAI, give it another 3 or 4 weeks, but get ready to see your doctor quickly if you start having hypo symptoms. (I expect you will feel differently in 3 or 4 weeks)...

It took me 12 weeks to go hypo enough to start meds. with a TSH of 29.  If I new back then what I know now, TSH would not have gone that high and would have started on meds. much earlier, as timing would allow.

I don't know what a bag of mush feels like, but it can't be worse than depression and crying jag's.

Hang in there!
