Specific "Pimple" Sticking Around

by 0nonymous, Jan 23, 2008 11:21PM
Hello There,

Was hoping you could help me out. I had acne (quite severe) back in High School, took Accutane, destroyed my face for a bit but seemed to do the trick. That was back in 2001. Now, in early 2007 (about a year ago), the acne started coming back. OK, that's not my question. Just a back story.

My question: I've started the Proactiv solution, and while things aren't *fantastic*, they are better, and it's only been 4 days. That said, I have this one (image link):

I know I shouldn't pick, but I really picked at it hard one night … now it's the only one that isn't really leaving. I feel that if this one leaves, I could be at ease with my skin.

So, in a nutshell, it's really red, constantly peeling, sometimes becomes … whitehead-ish? Pus still comes out. I am *hoping* it's just a really bad zit, and nothing more.

Hope the image does it justice, and I hope you can help. Thanks!

This looks like nothing more than a pimple that you picked, as you describe having done.  Redness and lumpiness of this kind can take up to two months to fade away.  If you leave it completely alone (other than applying ProActiv), that's what it will do.

Best.

Thank you for your answer. I've recently been diagnosed with BDD, so … this stuff is hard to deal with. Hence the "crisis-mode" need of an answer. It's difficult.

But, again, thank you.
