by MeShellneedshelp, Jan 25, 2008 07:30AM
i'm willing to take as much info on subxone either good or bad, i've been thing about puting down the tramadol and i know for a fact i need help to do it, the withdrawls are torture to me! A huge part of me wanting to quit is my script is running low and have 3 days till it's refilled with only 2 pills to get me to sun. the metal abuse i am putting myself thru is not worth it anymore, my social scdule revoles around how many pills i have and will have when that event comes up. Tramadol is my dark dirty dirty secret, i would rather have lived with my pain and never had my surgury if i knew this is were i would of ended up. I am alone and i am scared.

Suboxone has been a Godsend for me. I was taking approx. 100mg of oxycodone a day. Lying, stealing & cheating to get it. This went on hardcore for over a year & on & off for 10years. This time I just wasn't strong to do it on my own. I've been taking 12mg of suboxone per day & I can function, go to work, be with family & friends. I don't spend my days thinking about how to get my next pill or script, I can make plans without wondering if I will have enough pills when the time comes to carry those plans out. I can experience happiness, joy, fear, anxiety everything without oxycodone. I also attend AA meetings & see a counselor & these things help tremendously also & of course reading & posting on this forum...there are great people here. Feel free to ask me anything...Good luck.

My husband was an addict of oxy. for years.  He has been on and off suboxone for about 4 years now.  It is a GREAT tool in the fight against pain killer addiction.  I'm a firm believer that it was crucial in saving his life.  He has now been clean for a full year and is on prescrip. suboxone.  I thank God for this "miracle" drug because he tried so many times on his own and always slipped back, but with the suboxone he can function and it helped him climb out of the deep pit of addiction.  Hope this helps!

I am on day 4 of suboxone, but my experience is a little different, although I do call it a life saver. I was on 100+mg of oxy and it is better of the 2 evils. My challenge with it is that it makes me sick up usually within moments, but I also have a weak stomach. However I am getting small amounts in and this am was able to keep it down. I do experience withdrawals, but today I am doing much better and would do this again if I had too. I too felt shame because of my addiction, but none of us intend for it to happen. Addiction is like a gas needle, when it works it lets you know how much gas you have in your tank or not,but when it's broke your car does not know if your tank is full or not. Our brain chemistry is off and it is like a broken gas gauge. The drugs fix that. All we know is when we take them we feel better and when we don't it hurts really bad. We are all afraid to stop, but I promise it is well worth it. I was afraid to see a doctor was very ashamed. Seven years of college and a published author, I felt I should have known better, but I have a disease and now I am treating it. Seek an addiction specialist if you can. www.suboxone.com and other places if you do a search on it will list doctors in your area that treat with it. They have to be certified, not every doctor can prescribe it,but if you have a doctor you are close with, they can get certified online. HTH and good luck and keep posting

I don't think Suboxone is prescribed for Tramadol withdrawal. I could be dead wrong here, but I think I heard that. Hopefully someone can expand on that for you.
