Post-op Meningioma removal edema...one year.

My husband, age 59, had a meningioma removed from the right temporal area on March 9th of 2007.   He took Dexamethazone for six months before being weaned off because of seizure and edema.  He was just weaned off of 600 mg dilantin in November.  He is 6'6 weighing 275 pounds.  Just today he has swelling in the temporal area (tumor area)  and yesterday experienced tingling in the left hand.  Does this mean that seizures are recurring?  Should he be checked by his neurologist?  Is there anything that could cause seizure recurrence to be more likely, such as physical activity?  If you could answer my question speedily it would be greatly appreciated because, naturally, i think he should calll or see his doctor, but he refuses.  Maybe if he sees another doctor's opinion he will listen.  Thank you

Hello.

A swelling on the temporal region does is not related to seizure. The tingling however, can be a warning sign of a seizure. It is better to be safe.

Factors such as exertion, exposure to bright light, stress, loud noise are known to bring on seizures in those who are suffering from seizures.

But the swelling has to diagnosed. Please consult the neurologist.

Is he totally off Dilantin now ?

Regards
