Small Pinkisk Bump in Groin area

by jim1978, Jan 25, 2008 08:45PM

A month or so ago I noticed what I thought was a pimple in my groin area.  I pulled on it and was somewhat surprised that I was able to stretch the whitish center of the bump  approximately a half an inch (very elastic).  It behaved like a tiny string of skin (I think it was skin).  At that point I figured I should leave it alone.  It was red for a few days but not painful and did not burn.  It lightened somewhat in color and it now more pinkish but not skin colored.   Because of its location I can feel it when I walk.   There is also some excema and dry skin in the area.  At this point, it looks sorta like pictures of molluscum contagiosum ( a small reddish/pinkish bump, round and smooth).  Its been static for about 3 weeks.  There isn't an umbilication, but I do think I can see the skin pore near the center.

I'm worried about it because I did engage in sexual activity about 10 days prior to my discovery of the bump.  They may have been genital contact in this area.  Does this sound like anything?  HPV?  Molluscum?

No, it doesn't sound like anything, other than perhaps a blocked follicle that you pulled a hair out of.  It doesn't sound like a wart or a molluscum, and those don't pop up 10 days after sex anyway.  I suggest that you leave the bump alone and ignore it for a month.  If it hasn't gone away by then, show it to a doctor.

Best.
