Aygestin

51 yr old female going through menopause.  Extremely heavy periods for 2 yrs.  Gyn performed all test including endometrial (sp?) biopsy, all test results normal, except extremely anemic.

Gyn prescribed Aygestin 5mg, taken for 10 days, 16 days after period starts.  Has been working fantastic for the past 5 months..........except this month.  Heavy period and cramps returned, very little clotting.

The only thing different was water retention, so I took prescribed Maxzide 25 mg, 1//2 pill during the last 3 days of taking the Aygestin.

I was told taking antibiotics could reduce the "power" of the Aygestin, and I was wondering if taking the flluid pill may have the same effect with the Aygestin.  Could taking the fluid pill have caused the heavy periods?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Hello,

The diuretic should not affect the bioavailability of Aygestin.

Best regards,
