Viral meningitis

by pinklady153, Jan 26, 2008 05:33PM
I am currently recovering from a mild case of viral meningitis. I am currently serving in the Army in Germany and therefore need to maintain my level of fitness, i know viral meningitis' method of recovery is lots of rest and painkillers but i was wondering even though i've been in hospital resting for 2weeks and i still have meningitis (although not as severe) how long before i can start doing exercise? I was also wanting to know that due to the illness i'm suffering a from lack of energy and want to go to the gym to rebuild my strength but would doing so reduce my recovery time or worse make the meningitis come back?

hi,at this stage adequate rest is most important, please don't think of gym for next 1 to months.

As for now first you have to gain normal stength which can take couple of weeks.

Once CSF is clear of infection, the chances of recurrence are less.

bye and take care
