Fcae discoloration

Ihave a serious problem with my face. It is daker than the rest of my body. I am a african american female and this poses a serious problem because it is so noticable. I think it may be do to sun damage or skin care exfoliating products I used when I was younger. What are your suggestions on how to cure it?
