Hi,
i am on week 15 geno2 und at 4wks.
taste buds seem to go rather quickly. nothing tastes good, for several weeks all i wanted to eat was cottage cheese with fruit. when i get that spacey feeling you spoke of, seemed like eating something sweet would "put me right" things like cereal, milk, orange juice everyone seems to have their own craving, just go with that. even if it is ice cream. goal is to get enough protein in your body that your muscles don't dissolve into oblivion. well, most people don't seem to loose a lot of weight, i would actually welcome a little more than the 12 lbs. i have lost. fresh fruit and vegs good for you antioxidants and the like.
sleep became an issue for me i would go several nights a week just laying awake even with sleep aids. would just lay quiet to rest the body, then thyroid problems were brought to my attention (already on thyroid med), they increased my meds, now i sleep at night (and have wierd dreams). my hairs a little thinner, i still color hair but use demi actually is better than permanent color, can't use hair iron thats messed up - really miss that.
tx.like a roller coaster, never know from day to day what to expect. other people have reported problems with rash, and the like, hasn't hit me yet.
good luck
Unfortunately, anything I eat or drink tastes "not so good".
That was a huge problem for me everything just tasted odd and not good. I started eating just to eat and it was no fun. I totally forgot that food could be so WONDERFUL.
Three weeks after finishing 72 weeks well let me tell you WOWOWOW Flavor is FANTASTIC! It DOES go away. I might have been better off if it hadn't because now that my sides are going away (i had a terrible tongue/mouth rash problem from the interferon)...I LOVE eating! I've been thin all of my life and since the interferon killed my thyroid I'm worried about gaining. But it's NOT easy not to eat after being deprived for so LONG.
I just want you to know - it does come back. There is hope :)
i'm glad you're not having it too hard. i too have the shots affect me around the 3td day. water is very good for you and i'm actually starting to like it even more since some things do taste different. i started drinking pomegranite juice and the first few glasses were great and now it isn't working for me at all. i just keep trying stuff. love those reese's pieces! i find that some things i like only work for about a week and then i try something new. i used to love a good rib-eye steak and now, nope. i am originally from california and we used to have this health food store(i'm no health nut) and they had these sandwiches- whole wheat, tuna mixed w/mayo, jack cheese, cucumber, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, avocado, a bit of mrs. dash and bacon bits. i made one the other day and i am hooked. it was easy on the tummy and nutritious. we'll see how long it lasts!
My back (upper) started bothering a lot on tx. I think the tx exasperates the some of the back problems and bone problems and headaches etc. I almost had my Hep b booster around week 4 on tx, on the same day. The dr. said I just might feel worse that day. But my Hgb went way down and I couldn't make it to the appt. for the shot next time, so now I have to start over. just a thought.
I think the aches and pains may not be caused by tx. but I'm much more aware of them now. My upper back bothers me at times too. Driving in the car is uncomfortable and it used to never bother me.
I think I've been pretty lucky with tx, still able to enjoy most activities. Did have hgb drop and started procrit after the 4th shot. Most of my sides are irritating but not severe. Like the itching, mouth sores and psoriasis on the elbow come and go. I feel sorry for the people who's sides are constant, and cannnot get relief. Lucky to be a geno 2, just did shot 12.
Sounds like you are doing pretty good. I'm also geno 2 and i took my 7th shot last monday. I have had many of the nasty sx. The appitite thing for me is bad. Everything taste like metal. I try to eat very bland foods like pasta, rice and oatmeal. And i use carnation instant breakfast with whole milk. Hang in there it can be a roller coaster ride, but we can do it with support from the wonderful people on this site.
