Scared and worried

by Julie24150, Jan 28, 2008 12:56PM
Two weeks ago I had a pacemaker fitted.    Had to go back to the Hospital on Saturday just gone to have the pacemaker adjusted as the rapid response was just too much for me.   The cardiologist turned this off.      Feeling better but am wondering why I was put on a beta blocker for a month? Is this normal.

I did suffer with extra heart beats before the PM.  Before the PM I had an angiogram and my heart although bracycardia at 30 beats at night was healthy.

If anyone can help I would be grateful.  Really stressed out.

A beatblocker is to slow down the heart rate and lower blood pressure. If you were having symptoms at a high heart rate the betablocker would be used to lower it. It can also lower the stress on the heart by making each beat not as strong.

Never take a medication without knowing why your doctor wants you to take it. Be proactive in your healthcare at every level.
