Situational vs Non-Situational

I was on Prozac for a few years back when I was younger. About three months ago, I went to join the Army ROTC at my school, but was disqualified because I was on Prozac and Adderal. I went to check with my psychiatrist, he evaluated my situation, I told him how I was feeling, and he said I was ok to go off of it. What I want to know is what's the difference between Situational and Non-Situational depression?

Here's the exact quote I got from someone on the GoArmy discussion boards
"Prozac-- Long term depression is DQ-- situational depression 6 months or less is waiverable."

Since I was on it for a couple years, but on a very low dose (10mg), what category would I fit into?

Why were you on the medication?  I would say that situational depression is a result of an event: ie death of a close relative, loss of job, etc.  I would say that non-situational would be that you simply have depression due to a chemical imbalance or possibly otherwise, not do to an event.  I really am not sure about this, but you sound young since you said you were still in school.  It would be unfortunate if they would disqualify you because you had some rough teenage years.  Good luck to you.
