17 month old with bad cough

My 17 month old has a really bad cough and congested really bad, She ran a fever for a few days with it and we took her to urgent care and they gave her amoxicillian for this. Is this the right thing for her to take for this?

I am not a doctor, however, amoxicillian is an anti-biotic and widely used for a wide range of problems. If it's viral, it won't help too much, if it's bacterial it'll help quite quickly. If the baby's condition worsens (or you see no improvement after a few days) bring him/her back to get re-checked. Usually viruses burn out after a few days.
