pregnancy and septate uterus

by laznacko, Jan 29, 2008 01:41PM
My english isn`t so good, excuse me for mistakes!
I`m 18 week of pregnancy. This is my third pregnancy. My first pregnancy ended with missed abortion in 7 week of pregn.. After that I made some investigations including HSG (hyterosaplingography) and the Gyencologist told me that I have partial sepate uterus and for that moment isn`t necessary to make intervention (hysteroscopie). After one year I get pregnant again. During the 7 week beacuse of risk of threatened abortion (bleeding) the Gynec. proposed me hormonal therapy - progesterone till 14 week when I stoped the terapy bacause the placenta was formed and her function is to produce this hormones. 3 days after I stoped the therapy I had fever for couple of hours and after that everything was ok. The fever repeated three times more and the last time (10 day after I stoped progesterone therapy) during 15 week I had the second abortion. It was a big stress for me.
This time we made another tests (HLA typisation, Caryotipe, microbyology, antiphospholipide antibodies) and of course I was prepared for hysteroscopy when I get pregnant again but this time we was surprised (out of plan). Again I had heavy bleeding  and again hormonal therapy which I didn`stoped yet. I don`t go at work, and I rest a lot. Until this moment everything is ok and I`m 18 week pregnant now.
Can you tell me your experience with cases like mine? Do you prefere oral progesteron therapy until the third trimester? How is the reproductive outcome for partial septate uterus?
Thanks a lot!

Hello,

Progesterone used in this situation is not definitively helpful, but is often used.  At this point in time I don't use it in my patients.  In terms of route, I'd recommend vaginal.

The septate uterus can result in early miscarriage, but should not be a significant issue at your gestational age.

I wish you well.
