Experation date on Minimed infusion sets/reservoirs

by nels2657, Dec 03, 2007 12:00AM
I have had a large box of Minimed infusion sets and reservoirs.  10 boxes of 24 each MMT103 and 8 boxes of 24 MMT166.  Experation date 1999 up to 2005.  Are these still viable products?  Should I use them, sell them or throw them away?  What could happen to the materials and why do they have experations dates?

Hello.  I suspect the expiration date on them is to note that the packaging may degrade over time, making them no longer sterile, and introducing the risk of infections.  I'd ask your pharmacy or call Minimed and ask them what they would do.
