TONGUE PROBLEMS

by CHANEL7, Feb 14, 2006 12:00AM
Sorry to bother you again but i forgot to mention that i do have allergy and sinus problems would this have anyhing to do with white tongue coating? Also would like to know if it has anything to do with hiv? I have been browsing the forums and i see that some responses have to do with drinking alcohol or smoking. What about drinking beer? They also say it can come from garden variety cold or diet.I really don't know and im very confused doc or dentist don't seem too concerned is there anything i can do to get rid of coated tongue.Oh,I almost forgot to mention that i had a wisdom tooth pulled a couple of months ago wasn't it a oral surgeon that performed the extraction? If so wouldn't he have said something if it was thrush or anyhting serious as fas disease wise? Any comments would be appreciated from other people with similar problem. Thanks in advance to everyone.

I don't know if an oral surgeon extracted the tooth. I would assume that you would know the type of doctor that was treating you.Again I would give you the same advice I gave you last time. Either see an oral surgeon or an oral pathologist to get a definitive diagnosis.

stop your worrying and go see an oral surgeon, or a periodontist. if you are not getting satisfactory answers then see someone different. you will not get answers on the internet because we can't see you. you'll only go crazy thinking about what MIGHT be wrong with you.   chill and go to a professional.

I agree with Mike.I have done much stressing by reading sh!t on the net and yes it is mostly sh!t.A coated tongue does not mean thrush (thrush is thick and creamy ,ask your doc for a swab test) it could just mean you have acid problems or in your case it could just be the fact you had a tooth out recently.Try a teaspoon of baking soda (bicorbonate soda) in a little water (about a mouthfull) ,mix it well...rinse your mouth DO NOT SWALLOW IT.Kepp it rinsing for 2 mins then spit it out. Then throughout the day keep rinsing your mouth with water...try a little lemon juice in the water too.See if the coating vanishes after doing this a few days.

Don't get stressed over stuff you read on the net.A lot of it will have some product on the page "buy this" its all to get money.

Best thing to do is stop reading stuff on the net and see a real doc.

Good evening, I have a problem that started today. I must let evryone know , I had radiation (2 months ago)after removal of both sides of my thyroid for follicular carcinoma. as off this morning some of the glands under my tongue have gotten hard like little pebbles and at the end of the inside of my mounth (I would say, bu the jaw line) is soar almost like a blister.

I will have my first check up this wensday after radiation to clear my levels.  Can this be a result of that? I was at the Dentist last week and they found nothing wrong with my mouth ( I didnt have this obviously :) )
