I have had 2 root canals on the same tooth because of pain. I went to 2 different denists for each of the root canals and was put on antibiotics 3 different times even though they didn't see an infection. (just precaution) I have had root canals before with no problems but as soon as I had the first root canal I was having pain that I had never had before. It is all around that tooth and below it and it radiates to my ear and into my neck. So now I'm seeing an oral surgeon. I have had many a x-ray and different scans and everything with the root canal looks fine, no cracked tooth, no infection, no inflammation, no missed canal. My doctors have been real extensive in there quest. I was even put on a short does of a steroid if there was any inflammation. Nothing helps. The only thing that the oral surgeon say was a slight indentation in my jaw under that tooth that could have come from the novocaine injection. I had told the oral surgeon that the dentist that did the first root canal could not get me numb, unusual because I have had root canals and fillings, etc. before and never had a problem gatting numb. Anyway, he did something I have never had before which was injected into my jawbone with the novocaine. Has anyone ever heard of this type of injection leaving a tiny indentation in a jawbone afterwards and causing pain? Or does anyone have any other ideas what this could be? Thank you

I have never heard of an injection leaving an indentation in the bone.As far as your other problems it sounds like your dentists have been very thorough in there treatment. I am sorry but I think they have covered all the bases and I would not have anything to add without seeing you.
When you say it can take a while to heal how long do you mean? It's been about 4-5 months from the time I had the initial injection in my jawbone.
Some extra info.....I went to my oral surgeon today and I was told that the indentation looks like it might have some scar tissue in it and this could be causing my pain. She thinks that the scar tissue is from the injection into my jawbone.
