Lock jaw & Swallen glades after tooth pulled, Is this normal?

I went to the denist Tuesday afternoon, the next day i woke up with my mouth hurting so much, i could not even open my mouth to really eat anything. I can only open it the width of 1 finger tip. At first i brushed this off as to just being sore. Then Thursday (2 days later) My glands swollen up so bad to wear it hurts to swaller and under neath my neck is swollen twices its size and those glands are sooooooo tender. So i went to the denist, he sd i had lock jaw and gave me some muscle relaxers. Today is friday (night) I still cannot open my mouth,no more then a finger tip, my throat hurts to swaller (like i have a cold) my glands are ssoo swollen under my neck. the tooth next to the one i had pulled is throbbing now. Is all this normal?
Please can any one help?

It sounds like you might have a couple of things going on---one is the possibility of an infection from either the extraction or another tooth in the area. I think you need to be seen with the possibility of needing antibiotics. The second is trismus which can be caused by the infection and or the injection into the muscles in that area.I would suggest you get some tongue blades and every day add one or how many you can to stretch those muscles. For sure there will be discomfort when you do this but it is important that you break the adhesions in the muscles.
