Tooth removed still pain

by Tanya N., Aug 27, 2007 12:00AM
I had a tooth removed and I'm still having alot of pain in my face over the area of the removed tooth.  When the tooth was there I had alot of pain and had 2 operations to clean the root. The specialist said there was a cyst at the root of the tooth. I'm having pain from the missing tooth to the side of my nose. Could this be a problem with the bone or something else? What kind of dentist should I get to investigate this problem? Could this be TMJ related? Thanks

I do not think it is TMJ related. You would certainly have to consider a dry socket. I visit to your dentist is in order if the pain persists.

Go to an Oral Surgeon ASAP!!. You could have a dry socket and they are so very painful. I had one in June from an extraction and I am still having some pain and discomfort. I have been to an oral surgeon and he tells me they can take a very long time to heal depending on the severity.  I think in my particular circumstance it was  a worst case scenario.

Good luck to you.
