Root canal gone bad?

by Argus12, Oct 02, 2007 12:00AM
A few months ago, I had a root canal done on one of my canines.  Everything went well, and it has really been bothering me.  I can't get it capped until next year, when my insurance will pay for it.  Anyway, I have my temporary filling fall out about every 3 weeks and I go back to get it filled everytime.  My question is the last time it happened, I noticed that the tooth is starting to turn black.  I meant to ask the dentist about this, but they are on vacation now, so I can't call them.  I am worried that it is still decaying and will have to be pulled before I can get it capped which I would prefer to avoid at all costs.  Is this something I should be worried about?

I would be concerned that the tooth might fracture and become reinfected if the filling keeps coming out. Was there a thought of placing a temporary crown until you can do the crown?

it will turn black due to the loss of blood supply because the tooth is dead after the root canal because they remove all the infected tissues inside,  either get a temp crown or have a better temporary filling material put in
