Front teeth hurt when wake up in morning

by michelle23, Dec 10, 2007 12:00AM
Hello,
I am 24 years old and am embarassed to say that I had sucked my 2 fingers up until a couple of months ago.I finally quit, but now I notice that when I wake up in the morning my tongue is pushing up against my front teeth and they hurt. I think it is called tongue thrusting, I looked it up on the interent. I assume I am replacing the feelings of the my fingers in my mouth with my my tongue. I know it all sounds strange, but.....are there any devices that can keep my tongue form pushing on my front teeth? I am also concerned that my overbite is getting a lot bigger. Any help would  be greatly appreciated.

I think you are correct in questioning what is going on in your mouth and I think you should get a consultation with an orthodontist. I do not know if you are a candidate for Invisalign , which are the clear trays that you wear on a daily basis, but you should inquire about this orthodontic technique.
