20 Year Old Daughter

Hello everyone,

I have a 20 year old daughter who suffers from acne.  Our dermatolgoist was treating her with Accutane, which cleared her skin over the course of 3 months.  After her skin cleared, we decided to try topical creams and the doctor also prescribed Aldactone as a backup.  Needless to say, her acne has returned.  Our dermatologist believes that there is a strong possibility my daughter is suffering from PCOS and that her acne is just one of the tell-tell signs.  My question to you is how is this condition actually diagnosed and what type of doctor should we enlist to help us confirm such a diagnosis.  Thank you.

Hi,
My daughter also had hormonal imbalance and suffered from severe acne.  Her dermatologist offered various costly proceedures from skin peels to antibiotics.  Finally when my daughter was offered accutane but after doing some research about that drug we we didn't fell comfortable with the possible side effect so we nixed it.  Then in my continued research to help for her, (I know what you're going through), I found information about "Clearlight" on the internet which sounded interesting.   Luckily for us an internist not far from our home offered it and at a reasonable price so we went for it.  After only a  few treatments her acne was cured completely.  That was a few years ago and it hasn't returned but if it should we will just head back for Clearlight again.  I wish you and your daughter the best and if you have any questions I will be glad to answer them, Tjoyce
