Topomax isn't usually a first line drug. It is pretty powerful.
The next drug would depend on the type of seizure your son has. Some drugs can actually aggrivate some seizures.
Yes, Tegretol should be tried. It has two benefits as I earlier mentioned. It will help reduce anger as well as control seizures. It is important that the doctor is convinced about this change of medicine.

I would like to mention that in some parts of the world, Carbamazepine is actually prescribed as the first choice. Depakote comes second. As I said earlier, Topamax is a great drug, but may not be suitable for him. Your situation is difficult. But please try to have a dialogue with the doctors about a possible trial of tegretol.

It really seems to be a pill popping circus. Several in the past have not been good...
like ritlin, ambiliphy, wellbuterin, buspuron, just to mname a few.... I hope we can nail some of these treatments down.... I'd like to see if my kid can become more "Normal"
and acceptable to the outside world. gracem
