Vertebral dissection

by Jake18, Jan 31, 2008 01:07PM
I was recently diagnosed as having had a TIA, and during the course of tests it was discovered that I had a 100% occluded left vertebral artery. An MRA was done, which "showed evidence that this may have been a VAD" and I was placed on 2 Baby aspirin a day, along with BP medication and Cholesterol Medication. I am 49, I have never had BP, Choleserol, or heart related issues, I have never smoked, I excersise daily, and am about 20lbs over my ideal weight. All other neck and heart artery's were clear and normal. My question is- would the MRA have shown whether my vertebrae was somehow impinging on this artery (I have occasional crunching noise/stiffness in my neck), and is the intermittent dizziness that I experience a product of the BP Medication (exforge), or the blockage. Also, what type of physician would best answer the neck/artery related questions I have? I have seen a Vascular Surgeon, a Neurologist, and a Cardioligist, and I am not clear on which profession "owns" this issue.
