Thyroidectomy & end of menses

by rhoddie, Jan 31, 2008 02:55PM
Had a thyroidectomy end of June 2007.  Last menses in September.  Stomach gets to feeling like a balloon, achy swollen feel in breasts as if there will be a cycle but it doesn't happen.  I figured the surgery pushed me into the beginning of menopause.  I am 47. Is this common?  Is this a problem?

I would have your adrenals checked either by blood or by saliva test.  Blood test only measures at the time of day it is taken,.  Saliva measures throughout the day.  Mine is very low in the AM.

You might have your estrogen and testosterone levels checked, too.
