What are her chances??

by chitten, Feb 02, 2008 07:41PM
Just looking for a little bit of advice.

My ex and i parted 9 months ago and at this point his mum had been in remission for 3 years.
We contined seeing each other casually and i am now having his baby (his mums first grandchild)

He told me a couple of weeks back that her cancer has returned and has spread from the breast (she had a masectomy 3 years ago) to the chest bone, liver and lungs. she has been put on tablets and will be reassessed in 3 months

Basically what im womdering is what are her chances?? I hate for our baby to never meet his/her grandma. He hasnt told her yet as she is obv under alot of stress and doesnt even know we had kept in touch let alone seen each other i just feel she has the right to be involved in her grandchilds life for as long as she can.

I also wanna support him as best i can, we are no longer together and things are a bit strained but if hes hurting i wanna be there for him

Hi.
I understand what you are going through, and I'm sorry to hear that her cancer progressed.
The goal of treatment for patients with stage 4 disease is palliative.  This means that treatment is being given to improve the quality of life.  The tablet she is taking now can be a form of systemic treatment (oral chemotherapy or hormonal therapy).  Hopefully she responds to the treatment so as to improve her survival chances.
Good luck to all of you.
Be positive always.
