Need guidance

by Sqwiggles, Feb 03, 2008 01:13AM
Hey you guys, I've been needing some help for a long time now. Only now I'm actually reaching out to get it because I thought I could beat it alone, but I can't... I've been experiencing symptoms of bulimia on and off for about 4 years now.  It seems like just yesterday. I can hardly believe this has been going on for so long. I've never been diagnosed by a doctor because, well, I've never told anyone. When I tried to talk to my mom, I think she was in denial. Crazy thing is, it all started because of her... Anyways, enough venting... I was just curious to know what you guys are doing to beat your disorders... I would really like to join a support group but I'm a little afraid and I don't know of any here in orange county. I would really appreciate any advice, help, guidance anyone can give me.

Thank you!

The way I see it, eating disorders always start somewhere. No fire without smoke, or no smoke without fire? I don't remember which way that goes...

When food beomces a threat - find your way to disarm it! Look the fear in the white-eye and start your systematical approach. When you can start trusting that the servings are ok, you won't have to do anything but eat and then pat yourself on the shoulder for avtually doing somethng good for your body.

20 minutes after dinner? Go out, take a walk. Get your focus off the fear until the meal is digested. That's still one of my coping techniques - eat dinner, trust, focus off the fear and LIVE. Life is now, not in 10 years from now.
