Mirena Issues

by Frankie707, Feb 03, 2008 12:36PM
I've had my Mirena in for a little over 2 years now. The majority of the time, I love it. I love not having to worry about taking a pill, which I'm notoriously bad at. I also like not have periods, of course. Every once in awhile I do get some light spotting, sometimes a few clots. But nothing to the point where I have to wear a tampon, thank heavens. I do notice the mood swings from time to time but they've never been as bad as they were when I was pregnant with my sons. My biggest problem is the vaginal discharge. Before getting Mirena, I didn't have much at all, now it's to the point where it is TOO MUCH. There are times when I wake up in the morning or when I'm working out that I actually leak. At first I thought I had gone to the bathroom in my underwear, but I realized it was just a very watery discharge. During intercourse, it becomes a problem because I produce so much. It's frustrating and I'm not sure where else to turn. I spoke with my doctor about it and she said it was normal with the Mirena, I'm just wondering if anything can be done about it. I'm so frustrated and it's starting to get to the point where I'm thinking of having it removed. My husband, as sweet as he is, never complains. But I know it's hard for him during sex because of the excess fluid. It's hard not to take it personally. I hope this isn't too graphic, I'm just at a loss on what to do. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you!
