Pimples?

I think my 5 1/2 years old has the flu. Fever, cough, sore throat, some congestion, and lethargic. He also has developed two pimples on his lip. One is quite large, a little smaller than an eraser, the other is about half the size of the larger. Both have are white, but a tinge greenish. Red on the outside. Both are very painful to the touch. Could this be connected to his illness?
