My partner had a negative result and mine was positive

I have never had any symptoms before but after shaving I had some symptoms that related to genital herpes but my partner had none. I went to the gyn and had a culture taken but not a blood test. At initial exam the doc said it "looked like" herpes. I had my partner tested the very next day. He had a blood test done. We received our results at the same time and mine were positive and his were negative. Where should I go from here? I am really confused because now my partner is curious as to why our results were different.....Thank you so much!!!

So why would you have hsv2 and he didn't? Well then that means that you had hsv2 since before you met him ( that is if you were properly tested and really do have hsv2 ).
