unprotected oral sex

by help_me123, Feb 07, 2008 09:06AM
I received unprotected oral sex from a friend , not my wife one evening in october. The very next morning the tip of my penis felt irritated. I was afraid I caught something but I read online that nothing shows up the next day. I went to the doctors three times over the next three weeks and the third week he did urine tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Also blood tests for herpes 1 and 2, and syphillis. All came back negative except the herpes 1, which he said most people have.

I started a slight irritating burning sensation in my penis but no discharge. I am Thinking about it all the time. He says it's in my mind. A month later I called an online place that said maybe bacterial .. They sent me for labwork and everything seemed to come back negative for STDs except Mucus Threads.......Present...flagged abnormal..

What is this about mucus threads ?

I have not seen a doctor since then and still have the irritation and the burning. Is there an issue or should I see a doctor again? or just get on with my life and stop thinking about it...?

Thanks,

Mucus threads are normal components of urine and are not a reason for concern.  I don't know why they would flag them as abnormal  Current urine tests for STDs are so good that if your tests are negative, there is >99.5% confidence that you are not infected.  After three tests, there is simply no way that you have one of those STDs.  Your doctor sounds like he is right on target to me.   As for what might be going on, we have found that when people have their concerns about STDs raised, they tend to focus on their genitalia more than they ever had before.  This increased, focused attention tends to make people more aware of sensations in and around their genitalia that had been overlooked or not noticed in the past.   This may well be going on in your case.

No need for further testing - all is OK.  EWH
