For a few months, I've been waking up feeling like there is no air in my lungs.  I feel my heartrate increase dramatically as I start to try to breathe normally.  An hour later and I still don't feel like I'm breathing normally.  What is this and how can I remedy it?

Note: someone suggested sleeping with a humidifier--I've been using it for about a month now with no improvement.
