Are Doctors allowed to diagnose and treat themselves, give themselves scripts? I've always wondered about that??  Does anybody know?  Thanks Chad B

I passed a phoney script about a year and a half ago. I really did need the perc's but was unable to see my regular doctor for a couple of days. I had broken a couple ribs and was just totaly out of it, going crazy with pain. I
ended up geting a ligitement perscription for the pain from a doctor the same day the police ended up at my door asking questions. To make a longstory short i spent a week in jail, mad a huge mistake and now i am having open nee surgery any day and have been dealing with the pain for about 3-4 month's with some help from percocet, darvocet and ox. My question is will my miss-hap from the forged perscription witch i have been paying for since, show up in my medical records and is it possable that my primary surgen issometimes hasty about geving something for pain due to my past.If so is that legal, is he/she able do that if a pataint is really having pain and is not tring to abuse "pain killers". Thanks for any help with question MIKEY>

This is in response to Dean:  Yes, percocet has an effect on your liver and brain that I know of.  There's lots of new research on "the addicted brain" - don't quote me but it basically says that when your brain gets used to any foreign substance, it needs that substance to feel good (and normal) and won't produce as much or any of those feel good substances it would normally produce alone.  As for your liver, any pain med taken over a period of time is hard on your liver and can cause irreversible damage.  I used to smoke alot of pot and enjoy it and abstained for awhile (drug test) and when I started smoking it again - I found that instead of relief and the munchies, I became VERY anxious and did not enjoy it anymore.  If you are feeling these things, your body is telling you something, so listen to it.  Get off the stuff while you still can - if you still can.  And if you find you can't - try AA or NA - believe me, it will be worth it.  PS: any cardio exercise (walking, skiing, aerobics, tenis, etc) will stimulate your brain to let off those "feel good" chemicals without the detrimental effects.  Good Luck!

there have been a few times when advice was being given to one person and someone with the same name thought it was directed to him. could be dangerous when your'e talking about powerful meds.no biggie, didn't mean to rattle your cage. somebody might just confuse a post and mix meds that shouldn't be mixed.

Thanks Vinnie, I would be Dead too.  I know that if I even came close to a perscription pad, I would not hesitate to write in it
"Percocet 5/325 qid per pain/dispense 90", hehe, that's terrible isn't it?  See ya.

Which Chad are you?  I don't know how doctors do it but my father-in-law was a pharmacist(God rest his soul!). He always said that medicine was for "sick people". He never sampled his own wares!

I don't know if doctors can prescribe themselves, but I have another question that I couldn't ask today.  Taking percocets and smoking some pot, is that bad on your heart or real hard on other organs?  I've been smoking pot for about 7 to 8 years.  I was prescribed percocet for my lower back because I've had cancer and radiation treatments on my lower spine.  When I have taken my medication and go outside to smoke, I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack!  I feel that I need to stop smoking pot.  But I was wondering if it had any serious effects to the body if combining the two?
