Hi, how old are you, since when you are facing this problem. Have you got your blood sugar checked. Drink more water, if it is not helping, see your physician for evaluation and necessary investigation.
Take care.

I'm 24 and within the normal bodyweight for my hight though I would like to lose about 10lbs and still remain healthy. I did have my blood sugar checked a while ago and nothing came out abnormal.  I wonder if it could be brought on as a side effect of wellbutrin? If not that, we also had the heat turned up for the weather which may have made it far worse. I seem to suffer this more in the winter.  But it shouldn't be that dry in the room. I have lots of house plants and keep them fairly moist.

I have been drinking more water, but it seems to go through me without quenching the dryness in my mouth, sinuses and throat. I also have chronically chapped lips and dry skin. I don't know if that's all related or not. I also deal with my entire legs, back and other areas itching or feeling like being poked with several fine needles which keeps me up at night too.

Hi, thanks for reply. I would like to advise you to see a dermatologist and a neurologist for complete examination, dry skin do requite quite hydration. Also repeat blood sugar to be doubly sure. Keep drinking more water and avoid direct sunlight or dry heat. Post you visit. Take care.

this dryness of your mouth was caused by breathing in the mouth. because you have sinusitis, maybe also having your nose blocked.

im also having sinusitis. and my nose are frequenty blocked. i also have a dry mouth. sometimes, i feel pain on my mouth because of dryness.

Dear Suri123,

I am being woken between 3am and 6am by dry mouth. I have allergic rhinitis causing nasal congestion (dust, dustmites, mould). However, I can now clear my nose to 75% of normal with saltwater (Stermiar). So I'm not even now sure that blocked nose is a problem. I have tried air purifiers (Airfree P60 allergy approved and tested), Amicor allergy resistance quality bedding, new bed, etc. I am not dehydrated. I have a decent diet (intolerant to tomatoe, apples and spices) so I avoid these. I drink plenty of water. Exercise twice a week. I am 32 years of age and live in the UK. My room humidity is average 54% which is fine. I keep everything clean, etc. No diabetes. Thyroid test came back fine.

My doctor doesn't know what to do. I saw an ENT specialist and they don't know what it is.

My life is a misery at the moment, I can't work most days, and as I am self employed, I have no income on those days and I struggle financially.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks,

Lee.

Hi Lee, sorry to know you are going through a tough time. You have taken much precautions and modified your life style. Have you checked your blood sugar levels and also blood pressure. Are you on any medication. Smoking or chewing tobacco can affect saliva production and aggravate dry mouth. Continuously breathing with your mouth open due to nasal obstruction can also contribute to the problem. Pls continue to drink more liquids and have good ventilation. You can visit a neurophysician once. Keep updating. Take care.

Sorry I forgot about the post. I'm glad I just checked my watch list. I seem to be okay for the most part. I get it off and on.  I do seem to live with a bit of a salty dry feeling in my mouth.  I don't smoke or chew tabacco. I haven't been bothered enough to get it examined yet, but I hope to bring it up when I get my next appointment. I think humidity also plays a factor. If it is excessivly cold outside and the heat is turned up then it gets worse.

I'm working on dusting out my room to reduce allergins.  I think part of my problem is my allergies. I take Fluticasone spray for my nasal allergies. That may or may not be playing a factor in the sinuses. If I don't take it then I get postnasal drip which is just as annoying.

Hi, thanks for replying and hope you are doing better. Yes you need to see your doctor for an evaluation soon. Continuing dryness of mouth could be due to continuously breathing with your mouth open due to nasal obstruction from congestion. You can contimue nasal spray, also try decongestants and antihistaminics at bed time. Please update your doctor's advise. Take care.

I don't notice me breathing through my mouth a whole lot.  I don't notice my nose being severely plugged either. (Though give it about 5-6 or so more weeks then I probably will)

I take Claritin D 24 hr when I need an extra boost with allergy relief.  I'm noticing though I tend to get hard things stuck to my tonsils (dried up post nasil drip?) if I take it during the winter and it's dry.  I probably need some saline spray or something. Maybe that would help relieve the dryness?

I saw my psychologist this Friday. I know he can't do anything, but he thinks it could be a side effect of the Welbutrin. I see my psychiatrist soon and I can ask her about side effects.
