tonsils removal

My son is 4 years old and we have been advised to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. He used to snore and suffer from sleep apnea but recently this has disappeared and he is breathing quite regularly. Do I still need to have his tonsils removed?bearing in mind he has rather large ones that are know as kissing tonsils where they are joined at the top of his throat.His adenoids are pretty active and he suffers from nasal congestion in the sinuses leading to water on the middle ear. he has been on antibiotics for the last 8 months out of the 12.we are in a rut and frankly don't know what to do.I am told that any allergies also go away once the tonsils are removed. is that correct?

When my 6 year old was 5 we had his tonsils and adenoids removed due to sleep apnea and snoring. He seemed to stay sickly with ear infections, strep etc. I was just like you, he would seem to get better at times and we would back out of the surgery, but it would return and seemingly worse. He had a severe bought with a strep infection before we finally decided for sure on the surgery. His sleep apnea had gotten so bad that he would completely stop breathing. My husband and I would let him sleep with us out of fear he would stop breathing and not start again. We would wake with him and "shake" him to get him to take a breath. Anyway, that surgery was a God send for us. His snoring and sleep apnea completely disappeared. He seemed to turn into a totally different child. Before he had terrible dark circles under his little eyes, they disappeared. To this day he has not had any bad boughts with sickness and his little nose is no longer stuffy all the time. I highly recommend this surgery to anyone with a child with sleep apnea and terrible snoring. The doctor before had told us he would have to start allergy medication, but after the surgery there is no need. His adenoids were so huge they were blocking his breathing. I wish you the best and pray your little boy will get to feeling better. Oh yeah, my little one bounced back from his surgery with flying colors! If you go for it, be sure to stock up on popsicles. They are great crushed up in a cup for them to eat with a spoon! God bless!

My 5 year old son had tonsill,and adenoids,and tubes put in it cured the snoring, ear infections, and lessoned the severity of his allergies, its been 2 years and still no ear infections. It really really helped him, made me feel better too.
